Kassan Drawing Exercises

I've really been pushing myself to improve my craft and move my abilities to another level. I don't want to be just "good" at what I do, I want to be great. And they say you can only get better by learning from the best.
So that's what I've been doing here, this is a page from my sketchbook where I've been copying some beautiful drawings by David Kassan. And he is definitely one of the best. You see, David was very kind to personally email me a .pdf of his "Artist's Guide to Portrait Anatomicae". I was impressed that he would take the time to do so. It's a wonderful document that details the anatomy of the head and skull. It's filled with amazing drawings like the ones I've drawn here, although I don't think I could ever do them justice. To see the real thing you should definitely check out some of David's drawings on his website, truly amazing and very inspiring.

By copying some of his drawings I've learned to find more subtle values in areas that I would have previously overlooked. This has really helped me improve my drawing skills.

Thanks David for the comment, I've been meaning to email you with some of these drawing to get your thoughts. I'll shoot you an email, hopefully I can help with your question about schools. Keep me posted on the workshops, I'd love to attend. Thanks again.
