Yummy...

My first "assignment"(for lack of a better word, there's no grades) from W. Whitaker was to paint a piece of bread. The reason we've started with painting bread is because its colors are very similar to flesh tones, so it's a good exercise in seeing color and value. And as Bill says, "It's absolutely nothing to draw".
These are a few warm-up studies painted on tracing paper, about 15-20 min. a piece.


The final loaf. Canvas panel. 11" x 14".
