Girl with Braids - Part 4




Let me preface this post by saying that I learned this technique of applying a mid-tone wash from William Whitaker. Now that I've avoided all legal trouble I can continue. I begin by mixing Ultramarine Blue and Raw Umber with Alkyd medium and thinned with mineral spirits (2nd pic) until it is the consistency of skim milk. (3nd pic) I then apply the mixture to the canvas and wipe it on and off with a Scott's rag until you get what you see here...(1st pic)
